"There is but One, and because of the nature of that One, there is no outside influence for either good or evil."
What does it mean to be spiritually alert? In this month’s chapter, we discover that though we may practice the truth that “God is the only power,” the realization of that truth might seem far away—unattainable. Joel encourages readers throughout this chapter, instructing and teaching—pointing out the truth and also recognizing how the world pulls us in so many directions. Over and over Joel emphasizes: “No power acts upon us from without our own being.” And he specifically directs us to know, “The teaching is: Never worship effect; never hate, fear or love any effect.” Again, we are called to practice this principle—God is the only power—“hour after hour, day in and day out…” a practice that will change our entire experience.
"Meditation is an invitation for God to speak to us or to make Himself known to us; it is not an attempt to reach God, since God is omnipresent. The Presence already is."
